The Lewis Foundation
My good friends Lorraine and Lee dedicate all their free time to fundraising for their own charity.
The Lewis Foundation.
First of all they raised money to help patients take their mind off endless treatments and thinking about their cancer by financing things like 11 televisions and dvd players to go in the private rooms at Northampton General Hospital. Previously patients would have had to pay to watch television, which most could not afford to do due to finances being tight.
Then they came up with The Lewis Foundation. Funds raised now allow a patient selected a gift pack that they want during their stay it would be something nice for them to look forward to.
Patients can select one gift bag for their stay on the ward. This ranges from a Beauty pack, Radio pack, Puzzle pack, Colouring book pack, Magazine Pack or a Overnight pack. Whilst those items may not a face value seem important when you are on the ward they become important.
The packs are made up of generous donations from businesses, and Lorraine competing in various Tough Mudder challenges, Marathons, and anything crazy that involves lycra, she is amazing, and her infectious personality encourages many of her friends ,family and work colleagues to join her.
So this is where I come in, not one for outdoor pursuits, i have donated to this cause in my own way, by writing a poem.
The Poem is called
LIFE CHANGER
If you like it please visit the Lewis Foundation Page and read what this amazing couple are up to, check out the photos of Lorraine, mostly in mud or water, go to an event, and if like me you are swept along by her, press the donate button, please let her know you found out about her here.
